mine is the very 1st iphone 8 gig.

the big differences are no gps, no 3g = slower internet speeds when not on wifi.

it will run the new 3.0 software but will not be able to use MMS.

and the battery is starting to show that its 2 years old and not holding a charge for more then 2 days

its still shiny, just with out the new car smell
