I've never understood the summer off thing. Unless you are in an agricultural society, it just doesn't make any sense.

Besides, child labor laws pretty much make it impossible for those kids to add much to society. The education is much more important.

as much I liked summers - it sucked (still does) knowing that it is only a season now & not a 3 month vacation

with the summer off a school doesnt need AC.
