AP1 tip on AP2 will hit that bracket before there is anything for the set screw bolt to press against. AP2 tip on AP1 will slide on, but there's nothing for any bolt to thread into.

I definitely didn't have that issue but I will say I didn't leave the AP1's on because I didn't like it. Maybe I had it wedged and I didn't realize it? 
I'mma gonna pull off my tips tonight to see what I got in there. I wonder if mine are different?
