I have Forza but still need to do some internal house wiring to get set for Fios. Maybe I will work on it this weekend.

Pete, how do you stay warm in ~30-40 degree weather? I am dying to ride... Don't even care if it's on a paved trail at this point. But, I do intend to stay warm.

I am thinking:

Balaclava

Winter gloves
http://www.amazon.com/Giro-Ambient-W...=14XDRUUEJ6IMV
Thermal tights under sweatpants
http://www.amazon.com/Pearl-iZUMi-Th...=14XDRUUEJ6IMV
SmartWool socks
http://www.amazon.com/SmartWool-Cycl...=14XDRUUEJ6IMV

I don't clip in, will tennis shoes be warm enough with those socks?
What about upper body? I don't have any warm coats that aren't long. (Too long for biking.)

I'm not Pete but I recommend UA Cold Weather Gear. I use their pants and long sleeve shirts for winter football.

The two biggest issues with cold riding are hands and feet. You need heavy gloves and I would get neoprene booties that zip over your shoes (cheap and effective). In terms of the rest of your clothes, I typically wear a heavyweight bib/tight, a lightweight shirt (to wick off sweat), a heavier long sleeve top (similar to a fleece) and then a lightweight wind resistant jacket. If it is below freezing, I'll wear something that will cover my ears under my helmet.

Usually, the issue is that you will get overheated as you ride and then sweat which then makes you cold. So I end up unzipping my jacket to regulate my core temp.
