Original Gangsters Thread!
It is all in the residual. The rate isn't that great - typical of Porsche
I'm waiting on Navy Federal to publish their lease terms for this car. I am talking about the 2007 Cayman - not the 2006 Cayman S - which goes on sale later this week.
I did get to drive the Cayman yesterday with PASM and the 50 hp difference is not very noticeable at all. The Cayman S has a tad more punch off the line, but into second gear they are very close.
I was reading some owner reviews on RennList this morning and they're all saying the way to get the Cayman is with the 5-Speed Tranny instead of the 6 speed. The 5 speed actually makes the car a little quicker (and $3,000 less). In my own experience I can say that I had a tough time finding a speed to put the car I drove into 6th gear. I didn't get the car above 90 MPH, but at that speed I was right around 4,000 RPM in 5th. If I were regularly driving the AutoBahn, then 6 gears would make sense.
I was also shocked to note that the Cayman has a deeper exhaust growl than the Cayman S, and it seems to handle a tad better (125 lbs less). Then I read on RennList that people were praising the Boxster over the Boxster S because of these very reasons.
If I can get approval from my boss/grandfather (long story), sell the M3 in the next 3 months, and see that the residuals are going to remain close to where they are now I could be driving a Cayman for 24 months
.....then maybe get the 335i later (when all the kinks are worked out).
