Default Random I-pod question

just got my ipod yesterday. i'm of course in the process of loading all my shit loads of cds onto it anyways, i'm hoping my thinking before buying this was correct. if not oh well, but the reason i bought it was to condense all my cds and also delete the music off my computer once it gets uploaded just to save space. is that possible? if i delete it off of itunes will it delete out of the ipod? if it doesn't i can at least play the music from my ipod in my computer correct without having the actual songs uploaded to the computer?

thanks for reading

Dan, dont use i-tunes, it sucks... use ephpod instead: http://www.ephpod.com/

you don't have to sync either with i-tunes or ephpod... so you can do what you're planning on doing too... just delete the files through explorer to be sure.

what program are you using to rid your cd's? I've been using cdex for quite some time now and it's never let me down http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/

Dan, I personally had 3 iPods' hard disks go bad on me... (though it was an older model) I would keep a copy of your music on your computer or somewhere else if you could at all help it.

Hard drives are so cheap nowadays, it's probably worth it to have an inexpensive backup drive lying around.

yeah, but do you really want to have to re-rip them all? I just bought an external HDD for my music, and sync from it. I used to use ephpod, but have since switched back to itunes. ephpod is nice though, it will copy back from the ipod without any hassles, which I still don't thing itunes will do.

I didn't like Ephpod... it kept changing all my playlists and adding the genre's to them... i used it when it was version 2.0? dunno what its at now...

Since I've just been using Itunes, to rip CDS and play music...

I set itunes to rip to mp3 instead of mp4 JUUUST in case I don't go with an ipod or something later, and mp3s play on everything. I have yet to find a better interface... plus you can browse music with samples

GM is one of the worst for aftermarket electronics. There's a ton of cars that can't even have the factory stereo swapped out because part of it handles ECU functions. You have to piggy it with the new stereo and relocate it to the trunk or somewhere...

A Aux input on the front of the Radio would be simple, my Element has that.
