Speaking of PC's, anyone know someone that will wax my swirled, faded, water spotted paint? Typical of a DD.
Sounds like a good job for Roland.

Oh, and you're gonna need more than just wax. Probably some good polishing/cutting with a couple different pads.

The porter cable is almost idiot proof. You'd have to really suck to screw something up. Usually the worst outcome is you don't get the results you were looking for.

I've done a handful of cars and it's pretty simple just takes a lot of time.

I'm going to give it a go on my 10 yr old Toyota truck first. That's where it's really needed anyway.

So, I drove past Checkered Flag Porsche earlier. They usually have the boring selection in the lot, but I actually had a few seconds to stare at my dream car. It was a 2011 GT3 RS in thier show room. I nearly drove my car off the road looking at the thing!

This is the one they had, exact color combo...

But, if I were to have one, it would be in this color combo...

I will own one... one day.

You nailed it Pete. The 2011 is a big step up in looks from the previous generation.

Initial results tinkering with the new PC, with my 2000 Toyota Tacoma as the victim. Washed, clayed, then used the Meguiar's 105/205 combination, followed by Zaino Z2 and Z6 detail spray. Just did the passenger door, but I'm pretty beat! This really is foolproof - I'm a case in point. Once I get confident enough, the S will get a light swirl remover.

The 10 year old paint has never seen a garage. So it was totally dull and lackluster. Rear quarterpanel next to the door.

BEFORE:

After removing tape on the trial run that was about 2 square feet.

On the door:

After:

I only did the door. You can see no reflection on the front and rear panels compared to the door. Looks like a mismatched panel! Feels buttery smooth too. I couldn't be happier with my first attempt. Ya, I know, photos suck, but I was too lazy to move to a brighter location. It really looks new, other than some deeper 4x4 type scratches from branches and such.
