First time for everything, right? I can't wait!

Where's the best place to get a helmet? Any other must-haves? Oh, and can someone help me perfect heel-toeing?
You can use one of the loaner helmets for free. If you don't want to do that, you can get a helmet from numerous places online for under $100. It just needs to be Snell/ANSI M2000, SA2000, M2005, or SA2005 certified.

Here's a good guide for first-timers....

http://www.tirerack.com/features/solo2/handbook.htm

The two most important things IMO are walking the track before the race, and taking it slow your first couple runs. You're going be trying to navigate through a sea of cones, and it can be very confusing at first.

Heel-toeing is the last thing you need to worry about at your first race. I still don't heel-toe.....if I spend time thinking about that while I'm driving, I'll get behind on the course and end up being slower. Until you have it mastered and can do it without thinking about it, don't bother with it at autocross.

Now that we are moving to a parking lot, I can see the possibility of having some tighter hairpin turns and needing to shift back to 1st gear more often....that will depend on how they set up the track though.

I read the rulebook, but still can't figure out which class I'm in. Is it ASP? I only have adjustable springs, wheels, street tires, and exhaust. Does anyone know what class I'd be?

The wheels (unless they are OEM diameter and width) and springs definitely put you into street prepared.

S2000's Street Prepared category is now BSP, not ASP. You could race in SM2 instead if you don't want to have to take on a certain 1971 Datsun 240Z.

hawkdog - thanks for the quality info!

The thing about buying online is not knowing what size to go with. Any shops on the island where I could "test fit" a helmet? Or, if the price is right, purchase?

What class would I be in with intake as the only mod?

Damn. I was hoping to be in ASP so I wouldn't have to race against the Lee's. I guess I will run SM2. Thanks for the info!

As for the helmet, you can go to South Seas Honda and try a helmet there, or the Suzuki dealership.

Do they usually have a seperate Novice class here in Hawaii? I was reading about that in the link you posted.
