Default leukemia walk/run or scam?

does anyone know if there was some kine of benefit or charity type event for leukemia where people take donations and do the walk thing this past weekend? today actually. so here goes..

this past friday me and my gf were walking back to the car at ala moana at closing time about 9pm. and this lady and her kid im assuming were coming from the parking lot. she asks us if we can donate some money for this fundraiser thing they're doing for leukemia and that her son is gonna do the walking or running. so we gave her $3 and she took my name and telling me it's tax deductable. saying to her son "what do we say??" and he says thank u as if it was memorized without taking his eyes off his gameboy.

so i didnt think anything of it until my gf was saying it was kinda weird how they came to ala moana at closing time and asking people here and there for money. my name was first on the list so it seemed like she had jus started.

so yesterday we went to see a movie at ward and my friend and we saw some of our coworkers so we went over to them and the same lady and kid was there asking for donations. now i cant remember if she said tomorrow or sunday when she asked me on friday but i know she definitely said tomororw yesterday. so i started trying to find out if there was a walk/run thing that was going on but i cant find anything.

i guess she could be doing on it her own, but that seems kinda weird to me. so if you see her don't give her any money!

when i dad the heart run. you get donations, but theres like a little form that you fill out for tax purposes. even when big brothers big sisters collects money on the side of the road with their fish nets they will also give you a similar form to fill out.

i've heard of these events where people gather donations and do a walk, but that's so sheisty if that lady and kid were scamming. even if it was legit, that kids attitude is doodoo.

I bet it was the same lady that stopped me and my friend when we went clubbing Friday night. It was about 3 or 4 when she stopped to ask me and my friend. I was like Ummmmm Nope. Why the heck would someone be out that late asking to raise money for something. Unless she was hella dedicated.

I also had a bum with an electric wheel chair as me for some money yesterday. I just left the atm so I didnt have any change on me and I wasn't about to give him a 20. I was kinda thinking that he shold sell the electric wheel chair and get one where he can do manually.

I have a hard time trusting and sometime feeling bad for people out there asking for a handout.

Oh yeah sorry I didn't hear anything about a walk for money thing.

So does anyone on this board want to buy a $10 Pizza Hut literacy card? My wife has to sell 10 of them or pay $100 membership fee for BAP at UH. I'm trying to sell them at work and could only sell 4. You buy any reg price med or large pizza from Pizza Hut and you get the second one for free with this card $10 card. So I guess it's not free but it's only $10 and your helping a good cause (don't ask me more about the pizza hut litercy fundraiser because I have no clue). I just used one yesterday when I bought a meat lovers for myself for 24 something and got a free 3 topping pizza for my wife. Now I owe her $10.

j/k too bad i don't really eat pizza. it does sound like a good deal though if you go to pizza hut a lot.
