Default My top got slashed :(

My car was parked in front of Don Quiote around 7PM today. I went to work out at 24 hr fitness, and came back around 10PM to find a slash on the passenger side of the top measuring approximately 12 inches. I thought I'd share this with all of you, as a warning. I've seen other s2ks parked in the street parking starts bordering Don Quiote.

Also, can anyone give me some advice on what to do next. I didn't realize the top was torn until I was driving, and therefore didn't call the cops. Should I call and file a report? Also, where should I go to get it fixed after filing a claim with my insurance company? Should I go to the dealer to get it replaced? Would it be cheaper to just get a hardtop?

Thanks,
Jae

yes i would definitely file a claim with your insurance company or you will end up paying for it completely out of your own pocket...your insurance company will more than likely send an appraiser out to inspect your soft top and they will determine what it will cost to replace it with factory parts...roughly 2grand but your insurance will more than likely source out an aftermarket soft top for a lot cheaper...IMO take the insurance check and put it towards a hardtop depending on what you have saved up and in the meantime try and get it repaired as best as you can until you get a hardtop

I just got back from the appraiser, and he estimated the damages to be $1588, and I got a check minus my $250 deductible. He suggested Golden Upholstry. Which shop would you guys recommend. Fred's or Golden Upholstry?

The tear is in the shape of a L (11.5 inches by 2.5 inches). Is this repairable in anyway? If so, I might just repair it and put most of the money toward a hard top.
