Alright, what's the deal with the baggers at the Pearl Harbor NEX Commissary?! I've never been to a grocery store where you're encouraged (expected?) to tip the baggers.

It sucks if that's the only way they make money, but honestly, I don't make enough money to tip the freakin' bagger everytime I need to stop and pick up some groceries. Maybe some colonel's wife can afford to, but not me. So easy on the stink eye, NEX bagger.

 

i don't get why they don't pay them an hourly wage, like any other job. it's almost like volunteer work, and hopefully you get tipped. so weird.

 

i think that they're independant contractors. no wage and no benefits for the hours. IIRC
