Default Removing Headlights

Hey guys. So i went to get inspected and the guys said i had to put my amber piece back in my headlight to pass inspections, but i have the clear jdm piece in there right now and to be honest have no idea how to get the head light out, and then i still have no idea how to change out those to pieces safely. does anyone on oahu know how or would be willing to help me. if so i will pay you for your time, because i really want to learn, and pass inspections!

imo its a real pita to remove the inside lens. i would just buy used headlights and swap them.

but if u want to go the other route, u have to remove the headlights first.

take off the front bumper.

once that is off, remove the screws holding the headlights. there are 2 or 3 screws on top, 3 or so on the bottom and 1 under right next to the fender lining. u will have to wiggle the headlight out from the fender and brackets and then disconnect the wiring.

remove all sockets, hids and bulbs (if u plan on baking). some people separate the housing by baking, some by a hairdryer, etc. u can search for step by steps on this process.

once the lens are swapped out put the housing back together and make sure u seal it tight or else u will get condensation. work backwards and reinstall the lights and bumper.

i know that was a lot of crap to do so just by new headlights

yea but if you plan to reuse the ap1 ballasts you need to drill the hole on the underside of the headlight bigger

^yea what he said.

when i installed ap2 headlights on my ap1 i just bought a set of ap2 headlights that included the ballasts. in that case its a plug and play affair.

1st- you can't just put in the orange bulbs? and leave the clear housings? some one used to have one that was painted half silver. it looked silver but blinked orange.

2nd- find a new safety inspection place

agreed, some safety inspectors don't care about clears.

yeah your best bet is to find a better place to get a safety.

Technically orange reflectors are required (must reflect orange when shined on, not just blink orange.)

I dont know if you resolved the problem but I can help if you still want to put the amber diffusers back in. I just cleared my headlights yesterday so I have the diffusers. It really wasnt that much of a pain as long as you have a few hours set aside to work on it. PM me if you still need to change out the diffusers.

if not, yeah, just find another safety place.
