STR petition
I just started a thread on the forums hawaii scca section to see if I can somehow get STR going this year. I have no interest in being out classed by R compounds for another year and am hoping to get a chance to test out the STR environment.
Would anyone who wants to run STR or thinks they might run an autocross event this year please go to
http://forumshawaii.net/vbb/showthread.php...298#post6510298
and post up saying you would also like to run STR. Also if you know anyone else that might run a car in STR let them know as well? If we legitimately can't show enough interest then I will accept it, but if we get 10+ people saying they would run in STR then I don't understand why they wouldn't let us do it.....
THANKS
In case you don't know if you can run STR or not

justin -- someone asked jenn this.. let me copy what he told me:
In other words we'll know by the start of the 2011 season next year if we'll have an STR class locally.
Also, I'll PM you with more info.
I just emailed jenn and she said they won't be running STR this season since it's only a supplementary class at nationals. If it's popular enough at nationals then it will be a regular class and they will run it here.
Also, I'll PM you with more info.

Also, there is some work involved with adding a class. If your willing to volunteer time to SCCA for the setup of the class, and there is more than a few people interested, then I'm sure that they'll allow it. Also, just so you know I'm not talking out of my butt, I volunteer a lot of my time for the events, where I'm there at before 6:00 in the morning to help setup for the events and usually am one of the last people to leave after we clean up and pack up the equipment. Just my 2 cents.
cones, definitely. and the possibility of beating an awd in the rain... this is my motivation- my oa placing is terrible. thinking about rs on the daily so i can try to beat that pesky mazda3; that thing oa'd top 3 once!
I do it for fun and to become a better driver, but I also miss the competition side. I can here from Jacksonville, FL where we had about 6 s2k's at least show up for BSP, in addition to about 4 or 5 other cars. We all ran under a gentlemen's rule not allowing R comps (except for one guy but we beat him anyways). STR pretty much brings it back to that level that I was having a lot of fun in, and also would win once in awhile.
If it doesn't happen thats fine, was just looking for more of a complete autocross experience while I am on the island. As long as the events keep happening I will be happy.

On vacation so forgive short post.
I want str because I'm on street tires and plan to stay there a while. Cones are fun and all, but I'm more interested in the competition of a street tire roadster class. It should be fun
