Trip to Kauai
Hi Hawaii s2000 owners!!! So me and my lady is taking a week of vaca to Kauai in 3 weeks Wanted to know where we should go and where to avoid? What are the good drives? Where are the good eats on the island? Especially local spots. Which beaches and hiking trails are good to go to? Any waterfall trails? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks guys and gals. Hope to see some nice s2k's there.

Where are you staying? Everything closes early, so make sure you get your food before they close.
Kapaa is on the east side and pretty convenient to see both north and south shores.
If you stop there, go eat at Mermaids Cafe and get some poke at Pono Market.
Rains a lot though...
For beaches check out the following:
on the north shore Hanalei or Waioli Beach Park
on the south shore Poipu Beach is nice but touristy
on the east side Wailua or Kapaa is not as nice but convenient - good for looking at the wild chickens
My Favorite food spots in Lihue:
Hamura's Saimin
Mark's Place
Link to trails
Na Ala Hele - Kauai
If you like Ziplining, this place is pretty cool Kauai Backcountry
If adventurous you can rent your own kayak and paddle to Fern Grotto...
Definitely check out Waimea Canyon if you get a chance. On the way back down from the canyon its a very winding road with lots of curves and twisties!
There is really no places you should really avoid except for maybe Barking Sands since its just a military base there.
BTW - there are very few S2Ks on Kauai so if you see one - lucky you!
