wheels
Cast vs. Forged: With casting, hot metal is "poured" into a mold. The grain structure is therefore, random and inconsistent. For forgings, the alloy is rolled (pressed) to produce a linear "grain" structure which helps make it consistently thinner, stronger and lighter.
cast doesn't mean that they suck. it just doesn't meet as many performance parameters when judging a wheel. it probably isn't as light as my SSR's or TE's. but they're still round and hold a tire. if you're buying $600 wheel/tires, you probably put the weight/strength issue far lower on your list of priorities, below looks and price.
even name brand wheels are cast. i THINK advan RS,RG's are cast but they are still light. casting techniques can range from just pouring metal in to a mold to vaccum casting to spin casting. there are many methods to reduce weight and gain strength in a "cast" wheel. although not all wheels are created equal cast wheels are not always junk
