Default question : What happens when you grind the gears

when you grind the gear, what will happen to your car?? except for ruining the clutch?

The clutch would be the least of your worries. Grinding gears can chip or break the teeth on the gear sprocket, which could require a transmission rebuild.

When you "grind" a gear..you are trying to move another piece with dog teeth on it into the "gear" you are trying to select. Do it wrong and the teeth doesn't match, hence the grind. Check out how your transmission, clutch etc works on www.howstuffworks.com. You'll see what I mean.

There could be if you grind them, something breaks and the tranny seizes and the clutch holds sending a massive amount of tweaking torque back to the motor twisting up internals.

dont worrie... one time here and there wouldnt hurt... grinding everyday would F it up!!!

^^ I would be more specific and say that a light grind once in a while is not that serious. Just don't keep trying to force it if it grinds. Nice that your natural habit when it grinds is to cringe and let go.
