Thumbs up Harddog Rollbar install problems

Today I started cutting out the cross-section in the rear fender well to make room for the front backing plate. I started on the drivers side first and cut out a section as long as possible horizontally. The backing plate does not fit in the space provided and I cannot cut further in the body. I have reached a boxed section inside the hole I cut out so I've reached the limits there.

Anyone install this rollbar in an MY06? I'm thinking about cutting down the backing plate to make it fit.

You need to cut on both sides of that vertical member, and remove a section of it:

Thanks I was looking for those pictures above to reference my problem. I have cut on both sides of the verticle. To the left I have cut all the way to that verticle piece/rib and on the right I have cut all the across until I hit that inside wall.

From the pictures it looks like your backing plate is a lot shoter. Can you measure yours?

Mine are 5.75 x 4 inches. The 'U' shaped cutout is not centered on mine, so they are definitely left/right specific. Remember that the welded nuts should be facing down.

I just install in my 06 and I have to trim the vertical rip a little about 1/4".

I just measured mine; it's 5.75(L)x4(W)". Is yours 5.75 long or wide?

Added dimensions to the pic to avoid confusion:

Thats exactly what I have. I'll take a picture tomorrow morning of my situation. I can't see why I'm having trouble.
