Im welding my bar in this winter after seing a post of a bolt in mustang bar . Its totally up to you , welded is stronger but not to easy to remove . I would go welded with single diagonal bar .

I cant see how if the bar was welded the end result would have been different for that mustang...

Its all about the mounting points...not how it gets mounted I would think.

You can weld it in places that have structual support. You can't bolt one in the same place.

My point is that the bar only mounts one way....whether its welded or bolted, the end result would have been the same (Mustang, the OP example).

As for other/custom bars....yes, I agree with what youre saying.

I agree. However, the location that the Elda/Hard Dog bar mounts, the main hoops, is on a frame location. I don't think welding it in the same location will give it any additional support. Our car is very uncommon in that we have a high frame behind seats. The Mustang does not. The frame rails run only on the outside, and bolting it those the sheet metal only weaken it.

After seeing that, I am going to make a few changes to my cage. It was custom, but I did not like a few of the mounting locations. I am going to remove and rebend a few of the bars to properly tie into the frame. I too have a sheet metal location for a few of my bars.

I have the Hard Dog bolt-in roll bar. To fit the rear backing plates, you have cut into to the rear wheel wells.......very sketchy. Plus it took a ridiculous amount of time to fit it.

Next time, I'd just weld a bar in.
