Default The Odds and Ends Vintage Photo I Thread

Since I like to see and read about the photos that other members post, I'm starting this thread with some of mine. I hope others add their's too. I don't want it to just be S2000 related because we usually have photo threads dedicated to drives.

I'll start it with this one of S2ki ladies who love their S2000s.

Gina (Vtecmom), Patty (Kyras), Kathy (S2k_redhead), and Nancy (Ratgirl).

Some of you heard about the Acton fire, or Crown Fire, that started on July 20th and burned for a few days. We were on vacation at Trinity Lake then, so by the time we found out about it the fire had finished with Acton and was moving quickly to the east. Anyway, I took some pictures after we got home.

This one shows where the fire started as the blackened ground in the distance.

You can see how it was all around this house at the foot of the hill.

This bridge on Aliso Canyon Road was burned.

For you city slickers (ahem, Rob), this must look like a torturous place to live. These two are of Downtown Acton, California.

Here are a couple pics of my male dogs, Vector and Rogue. Rogue is 3 1/2 months here.

A thread for random photos, and our photo library looks to be fixed, oh, I'm all over this thread...

First off Kyras, I have to say I do love the part of the country you live in. So, as the antithesis of those hot, smoky burned ruins, let me start with this pic. Can you find the duck in the ice?

I not only see your "duck" but also see the elephant - do you?

Here is my contribution. Looks like this storm pipe needs flushing!

Triple-H,
I gave up on finding the duck but then I saw it when I went backwards to the thread. Is that ice a normal occurance?

2kMarc,
What's the story behind all those snakes? Is that close to where you live? Where do you live?

Kyras, I found that photo on a news site about Florida along with this one---

I, however, live in Texas where it is quite common to find rattlesnakes on the outskirts or edge of town or even in new developments of neighborhoods.

This is what I use as my desktop photo.

2kMarc,
That is just too many snakes. Houses in Acton on the edges also get rattlesnakes. We are in downtown Acton so we've never seen any here.

I'm going to find my desk top photo.

Well 2kMarc, I don't see the elephant, but that maybe because I'm hiding under my desk after seeing that storm pipe...

Kyras, ice storms both big and small are not at all uncommon around here in the late winter early spring. In fact we got one in the late '80s that caused Rochester to be declared a Federal disaster area. I was not at my office for a week because my car was stuck inside a demolished garage and the roads were strictly off-limits due to all the utility poles and trees down. The Upstate NY lake effect makes our falls, winters and springs extremely unpredictable. Thus, my lead in for the next two pics...

My humble little home, I just bought last year. Notice the date stamp in the corner, and NO, this ain't no photochop trick, this is the reality of lake effect, and this example was mild.

Kyras, you owe me an email. I'm sorry but it looks too dry for me in Acton. Napa Valley has thick woods in the west hills, but the east hills are dryer looking (where I live) but we still have a lot of oak and pine trees. We also have the best poison oak in California (as well as grape vines)! Also have our share of rattlesnakes. We had 2 dozen people, including kids, for a party last summer and after they all left, I found a rather large rattlesnake under the bench by the front door.
Rogue is getting big. Does he jump in the pool on his own?
ps. glad the fire missed your house.
