Why not? There seem to be enough questions to start one

So, I'll kick things off

What exactly is this gold foil? (I assume there's a little more to it than aluminum foil painted gold)

Gold has silly heat dissipation/withholding (not sure how to say that) rates. I've always wondered how they applied that.

It's a heat sheilding foil tape, and it's ridiculously expensive.

We used that stuff on our BMW race cars until SCCA said no-no.
Amazingly high reflective heat quality yet so thin it doesn't retain heat.

I don't know anything about it, but it sounds like what you guys are trying to say it reflects radiant energy well and is very thin and having low mass thus not transferring much heat to the intake air through convection or conduction to materials it is touching

Gold is reflective to heat from the motor and sun keeping intake temps down producing more power.

if what i read is understood correctly.
