Default Installing MY04 Horns on MY01

As those of you who know me, one of my few pet peeves about the S is the wimpy horn that has been installed on MY02 (maybe MY03 also) and sooner. Apparently, there was an improvement in MY04, so I bought a set of horns from the hardtop guy. I have searched the forums for some guidance on how to install the 04 horn on an 01. There have been some bits and pieces posted, but nothing definitive that I could find. I also have posted in "under the hood" with some minimal luck. So I figured I would post in our forum and see if I can get some help. Mind you that the MY02 has a single horn... MY03+ has two horns... and I believe the MY04 improved the sound of the double horn.

What I have learned thus far is that the MY04 is plug and play on 02+. Some have suggested that there is some wire-ing that nees to be run to do this mod on the 01??? Also, I have read that there may be some fuse issues and there are suggestions on increasing the amperage on the fuse so that the ABS and brake lights don't go out.

I have failed to come up with a good step by step on this mod. Mind you, this is not for Hell or Air horns... my query is for AEM parts here changing a 01 to an 04 (sick and tired of people posting stuff about other horns.... please read the TOPIC TITLE!).

Unless I have missed a thread somewhere, perhaps this can be the first definitive one?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Good advice Justin... I have posed in S2000 talk and in Under the hood, but have not yet tried electronics.

Hopefully someone in the triangle network (OK, kansas and gateway) will know...

For good measure I have also posted in electronics

Thanks for the thread Joe... i already found that one. It is probably one of the better threads out there... but still it is not definitve. I am not too excited about changing fuses from a 15 to a 20 as the ABS and the brake lights are on that same fuse.

There have been posts of people who have done the mod and not changed the fuse which has led to some electrical problems... mainly the brake light going out etc... Don't know how valid those claims are since there are other threads where people claim not have had any problems.

I am fishing for something definitive.... from someone who has done this mod.

Martini... You really only have two options here 1) Change the fuse 2) add a relay. The extra 5 amps is ot going to hurt your ABS, nor your lights. If I were you I would go with option #1. IMO... if you add a relay, you will resolve the fuse concern that you have, but may have issues with the new horns.
