Default Need help with AEM Serial gauge wiring (Pic)

Well I did a search here and on AEM's site. The downloads from AEM is not of the wiring but how to calibrate the gauge which I'll need help with later on down the road. The same goes for here. Its mostly for the calibrating the gauge. I've also called AEM but they were vague with instructions. They told me connect the red with power and black with ground. Well there is 2 black wires so which one is the right ground?

So there is 2 sets of wires. One of 4 wires and one of 2 wires.

The first set which is of 2 wires is orange and tan. These I'm guessing are for the alarm outputs.

The second set which I'm suppose to use consist of:
2 Blacks
1 Red
1 Green.

I connected the power and ground but couldn't get a correct water temp reading. It was something like 35 and the car was warm already. I'd appreciate if someone can shed some insight for me. Thanks!

Just hooked up mine the other day... You'll need to hook up the DB9 connector from the gauge to the DB9 cable that comes from the ems. The other square plug connector from the serial is for daisy chaining multiple serial gauges. You will also need to download the AEM Progauge software to calibrate the gauge from its stock settings and you'll need a female to female DB9 connector ($9 at RadioShack) for this if you are using a usb converter.

Both the black wires should be grounded and red 12v fused power.

O.k. I'll hook up the wiring and see what happens. How come there are 2 grounds? Maybe thats why it didn't work properly before.

Thanks. I did get the software but I'll have to learn how to play with that later.

Not sure about the 2 grounds. It should work right outa the box, its pre calibrated to display Engine Load, throttle, air temp, water temp, o2#1 and vehicle speed i believe.

The software makes the gauge fully programable, kinda neat once you play around with it... you can also pick up a mini siren from radio shack for audible alerts.

Well I hooked it up and the readings aren't correct. I'm looking at Water temp which is H20 and it sits at 32.0 and does not move even when the car is warmed up. I am running the 1.19 version so I don't understand why it doesn't work.

Strange.. Did you do the initial calibration thru the ems to let it know the gauge is present? View > wizards > Telemetry wizard

My H20 reads 32 until the car is started then jumps to 60's and starts climbing after.

I didn't do the intial calibration. I thought it was good out of the box. I'll go do this right now. Thanks for your help!

Could you post some pics when you complete the installation?

I wish AEM makes 60mm gauges instead of just the 52mm. These gauges looks so cool.

Well I picked up the Serial to USB converter. Cost $32.00!!!! Probaly will use it then return it!

Then I had to download the AEM Program because I didn't have it but now it won't connect to the EMS! Dam. It ask Serial or USB. I chose USB because I don't have a serial port on my laptop and it won't connect. I then choose serial but there are no ports to choose from.

So whats next?
