Yeah they are $$ for what they are and only certain serial to usb adapters work with the ems. Sucks but check out the AEM forums for which ones work. They haven't sold laptops with serial ports for years, not sure what AEM's deal is with not changing it to usb.

You prob did but did you install the adapter's drivers?? Also make sure to plug the adapter into the same usb slot every time, and to wait for the new hardware found icon pop up (bottom right hand corner in windows xp) before you connect to the ems.. Connect the adapter to the serial cable then power on the ems & car. My adapter shows up under the serial option.

I didn't upload the software for the serial to usb. That was the problem. AFter I uploaded the software I was in like Flynn. Thanks for helping me out! The gauge is working now. I just need to figure out what some of the abbreviations are for some of the sensors. Which one is Air temp?

No problem.

The abbreviations are;
Engine Load is APn
throttle is -ps
air temp is A17
water temp is H20
o2#1 is O21
vehicle speed is U55

If you mess around with the progauge software you can change these to whatever you want.

Heres a pic of where mine is mounted.

Nice! I have my serial gauge on top of my steering colum because my rollcage won't allow me to mount anywhere else.

I've been messing with the software but when I try to connect to the gauge it just keeps on trying to attempt to connect and never connects. I have the program running hook up the serial to my laptop, press connect and give power to the gauge. Trys to connect but doesn't. How long does it take for you to connect?

Only wire I have a question on is the green wire? I know you have the 12v red power wire, 2 black grounds, and the orange/tan aren't necessary if you don't have a mini siren. What is the green wire and where does it go? Thanks!

I have a question.

Can one of the 12v switched outputs from the EMS run 2 serial gauges? I'm thinking it can since they are LEDs and use very little power.

I'm ready to finalize my install so any help here would be greatly appreciated.

the instructions for the serial gauges don't give a power requirement, just says it needs 12 switched

thanks

Mitch
