Okasa Projects Coil Packs?
I am considering replacing the stock coil packs on my FI '02 Honda S2000 with Okasa Projects Coil Packs ($714.95 for 4). Okasa claims that their Coil Packs have 4 times more spark energy than the stock Honda coils and generate an ultra fast multispark discharge of 10 sparks up to highest RPM. They also claim the spark amperage is increased 100% allowing the spark to reach many more molecules and therefore accelerate the ignition and compustion process. Okasa claims increases in horspower and torque throughout the entire RPM range. They say these coil packs are OBD II compliant and C.A.R.B. approved.
My '02 is equipped with the Comptech supercharger and aftercooler which can deliver 5.5 PSI at sea level. I will soon be using the AP2 smaller diameter supercharger drive pulley which will give up to 6.5+ PSI boost (at sea level with aftercooler) with this 9,000 RPM engine. My FI S dyno tested (in Houston, TX/80' elev) a max of 290 RWHP with the 4.6" diameter (AP1) Comptech supercharger pulley. At 2,100 feet elevation (where I live), I am only getting 4.9 PSI at 8,800 RPM with the AP1 pulley, thus the change to the (AP2) 4.3" diameter supercharger pulley. My tuner recommended changing to higher energy aftermarket coil packs to insure sufficient spark and more complete combustion efficiency.
Are there any S2000 owners that have used these Okasa Coil Packs on their S2000 cars (FI or normally aspirated engines) that can answer my questions below?
1. Do the Okasa Coil Packs mess up your car's radio reception (i.e. cause static)?
2. Are you satisfied with the performance of the Okasa Coil Packs? (Is your car FI?)
3. Does use of the Okasa Coil Packs decrease the useful mileage of the spark plugs?
4. Have you noticed an increase in horsepower (via dyno test or seat of the pants)?
5. Have you had any of the Okasa Coil Packs fail and need to be replaced? At what mileage?
6. Have you any experience with any other brand of aftermarket coil packs on S2000 cars?
Any comments, suggestions, or experiences with aftermarket coil packs on Honda S2000 cars would be appreciated.

Yeah, it's Okada BTW.
And you gotta watch this sort of thing on the S. So many of our components are top quality to begin with, you can actually lose power going aftermarket in some cases.
Just look at the For Sale forum for evidence :-)

Hey guys, I really hate to see these types of threads bashing a quality premium product. From having dealt with Okada Projects first hand, talking with their reps, and being a consumer myself, I have to say that quickly judging the product without having tested out the products yourselves, it is not fair to quickly dismiss the product. The Okada Projects Coil Packs are not just there for the bling factor, but in fact they are there as an OEM upgrade to your existing coil packs. While it is true that Honda has a history of making great OEM parts, as with all manufacturers, parts are made for longevity, cost efficiency, and of course build. A lot of the times you will not have parts which have been designed to efficiently maximize and bring out the true potential of your car. Can you really argue with a better mixture of fuel and air due to a stronger and faster spark which will more efficiently burn fuel? While it is true that at time stock vehicles will not see a huge power jump, or any power jump at all, for those who want to bring out the true potential and efficiency of your motor, the fuel and ignition system is very important to fortify.
I am not here trying to sell you a product, but I am here to ask you to keep an open mind and not be so quick to judge a product. As far as Okada Projects is concerned, I invite you to join us at our live dyno demonstration on September 15th. You can click the following link for more information.

Once again, try to keep an open mind guy. There is more to making power or running efficiently than bolting on an intake or a turbo. Car manufacturers are becoming more and more sophisticated, but there are always things engineers cannot justify in doing because of costs mainly, as well as emissions. BTW.. the Okada Project Coil Packs are emissions legal.

1. The Okada Projects Coil Packs do not mess with your radio reception. It only adds a stronger spark replacing your stock coil packs. It has nothing to do with any other electronics in your car
2. Although the coil packs will be more beneficial for FI cars, with NA cars it still does make a large improvement. There will be a smoother power band, more tq, and it will be especially more torquey and smoother when VTEC kicks in. This is because the larger and faster sparks allow your car to more efficiently burn off fuel.
3. The Okada Projects Coil Packs does not decrease the mileage of the spark plugs. You will of course have to change spark plugs during maintenance though so make sure you check your users manual for exact intervals on when maintenance needs to be done.
4. Come to our live dyno demonstration to see for yourself the dyno results
you may also be selected to test out the coil packs on your own car too
5. The Okada Projects Coil Packs have a life span of 5+ years, making it a very good investment, especially if you need to replace your stock coil packs due to maintenance.
6. The Okada Projects are vehicle specific, which not many other manufacturers are capable of doing.
Hope this helped in answering some of your questions. If you have more questions, concerns, please feel free to PM me

BTW I just wanted to mention that this is a one of a kind product, and there is nothing else like it.
