2005 or 2006?
So I'm pretty sure that I will be getting an S2K in about a month to a month and a half and I wanted to ask what everyone thought.
If I go to the dealer and offers me a good price for a left over 2005 (meaning cheaper than an 2006), should I stay with that or still take the 2006? Money for either one is possible. I'm asking because now that the 2006 is drive-by-wire, do you think it's going to be possible to swap out the ECU for let's say a EMS? And are there any mods for the 2006 yet? Haven't been seeing any.

The 2006 ecu is programmable and Hondata is currently working on a flash for it. All previous years (2000-2005) did not have this ability. Also, one thing is I'm pretty sure the 2006 now has a 60k mile powertrain warranty. If your a warranty kind of guy this might be worth it as the money you save you might spend on the extended warranty on the 05 once you hit 36k miles.
Drive them both back to back and see what you think.

Go with the 2005 MY if you prefer the conventional throttle cable over DBW and the compatibility with most AP1 aftermarket performance mods.
Go with the 2006 MY if you prefer the most updated car, don't mind DBW throttle, drive with VSA with a peace of mind, have the potential for Hondata to do great things with the programmable ECU, and don't mind the fact that most current aftermarket intakes, exhaust/header systems, and superchargers/turbochargers don't fit your car.

You have to decide how much the extra 06 feature is worth to you. For me, the difference between a new 05 and 06 was about $4.5k. No way the DBW and VSA are worth that much more.
What's the price difference, for you, between 05 and 06? Or are you sufficiently well off not to care?
