Default Plugging a hole

Okay, I read somewhere that theres a hole under the hood that drips water onto aftermarket intakes, such as AEM's and Injens. I've got an AEM v2. I can't seem to find those threads that said you should get an "umbrella" for your filter or what hole to plug. I've searched and searched but to no avail. Can someone please help me and tell me which hole to plug?

You plug this hole:

You make an "umbrella" or buy one like this:

I have had great success with a small piece of black electrical tape over the hole. It is a whole lot easier and cheaper and lighter than buying/building a filter umbrella. This tape has prevented water from dripping onto my filter through 4 hurricanes this year (a couple dumped nearly 14 inches of rain in 24 hours while my car was parked).

I'd recommend everyone with a CAI look into this. I had an AEM V2 and hydrolocked my motor, after a not so bad rainstorm. Contrary to what most of us would believe, you don't need to drive thru a puddle to create this problem. My car was parked in my driveway, water dripped down and collected in the intake. After starting my car the next morning I pushed the rod right thru the block and oil pan. Hopefully I'll have her up and running in the next month or so (saving up for a new motor is a bitch).
Best of luck!
Dan

(If anyone wants to know the details, they can PM me ... being this happened a little over a month ago, I've bitched and moaned about it enough in the local forums)

Is plugging the hole enough or should you plug and get an umbrella for your intake

Plug the hole for sure. Do the umbrella as extra insurance in case water finds its way in from above by some another route.

^ I hope all y'all are calling AEM and letting them know about this... I had my intake fill up and called them and they'd never heard of it before!

With my 04, I found that taping over the hole wasn't sufficient, water still dripped around the headlight, the umbrella was necessary.

Just drill a hole at the lowest oprtion of the intake tube where the water collects. A small hole will not hurt performance and will keep the water out.
