I'm not quite sure in the picture above exactly what hole you are talking about. Can someone clarify for me and also point out what the "umbrella" looks like. Because I'm not sure if I would need it or not? I have an '01 S2000 witha aem cold air. any help can reach me on this post or e-mail me (smjpcny@yahoo.com) - thanks

If you open up your hood and look just behind the passenger side headlight, you'll see what is shown in the picture.
The link I put up shows you exactly what this "umbrella" looks like. I don't know how much more clear I can make this.

It is precisely the AEM (and Injen) type of CAI that this plugging of the hole and umbrella applies to. This CAI is curved slightly upwards just behind the filter. This creates a pocket where water can fall from above and collect while the car sits in heavy rain. As soon as you start the engine, this water will get sucked into the engine and then .............................. KABLOOIE!

yeah, I see the hole but where in the picture is the umbrella? Is it the plastic piece/cover also shown in the picture? I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I just got a aem cold air and want to make sure I don't mess up the car. I was unaware of this problem and want to make sure I take care of it if it's as serious as you say. - thanks

This is exactly what happened to me, because of the bend in the intake (think of the shape of a CHECKMARK, how it angles down before it bends upward). I really can

I have the aem cold air, what about the air bypass valve? Does it work? They say it's made specifically to prevent hydro-lock, is it better to get this or to get the umbrella? I'm gettin nervous, I just got the car and put the intake and I'm not trying to break anything, the car isn't under warranty so if there's a problem I'll have to pay and I can't afford that. So any important or specific info would be greatly appreciated. (smjpcny@yahoo.com)

Even if it was under warranty I don't think they would cover you for that..
