Attention Kyokugen lug owners or potential owners! (Long)
Here's what happen to me today...
I went to Discount Tire (The location where cdelena recommended) to remove my Rega rims/tires & put on the oem setup. The two left wheels weren't a problem...However, they were unable to remove the two right wheels. Apparently, the tool that comes w/the Kyokugens (From now on referred to as "Kyos") stripped. Then we tried the tool from another set I have for my Civic...That was also stripped. They tried everything they could but to no avail. And yes, they followed the instructions on the back of the package. They told me to go to a nearby service center to try to see if they can get it off. That place couldn't get them off either.
When I went back to Discount Tire, they informed me the walls of the tools were too thin, that's why they stripped so easily. Now, keep in mind I've watched them work on the s2k everytime I go there. Before this encounter, I've only used the tool twice. In the past, I've asked David@R&D Motorsports (The original place I bought them at) to get me another tool & he said he'll see what he can do w/Mackin Industries (The distributor). A couple months later, I emailed him again & he said they won't do anything for me, however he did inform me he has spare Kyos tools @$20 a piece.
The guy at Discount Tire told me to leave the car there overnight & he'll work on it in the morning (Since it was closing time for them). So, I left it there (Uncomfortably) & we'll see what they can do. Otherwise, I'm screwed
.
What's the point of this you might ask? Well, Kyos are horrible, that's what! Heck, they couldn't even get it to work w/DeeGYM's Kyos tool (He has only used it once & that was to put it on the s2k the first time). Apparently, his tool was of low quality, also. I'm just informing everybody the potential problems w/the Kyos so you don't have to spend 4 hours at Discount Tire (Would've been longer if THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO CLOSE) & get nothing accomplished like me. I'm not the only one that has had this exact same problem. There has been numerous people on other Honda/Acura boards that have had the same problems as me w/these lugs.
My advice's to get rid of them ASAP if you have them or don't even consider them an option for lugs (For potential owners). I'm sick of this & I've had enough. DeeGYM feels the same way & now he's trying to decide which lugs to use (If they can get the Kyos off his wheels). I guess that's what I get for "trying to be too fancy" (My friend's words).

Someone recommended the gator grip socket to me. I just went to Super Target & bought it. I won't know if it'll work until tomorrow. Has anybody used this? If so, does it work pretty good? Thanks!
Are you positivly sure they fallow the instructions. Did you see them do it cause it says not to use the lug machine to put it on. from a person that worked in a shop i can tell u, is a habbit to use the machine. u suppose to do it by hand.
Yes, I'm sure b/c (Like I said in my original post) everytime I get anything done at Discount Tire, I'm always outside next to the s2k watching whenever they do something. Heck, I even watched DeeGYM's mount & balance of his rims/tires on his s2k better then he did (You'll have to ask DeeGYM about that
). I'm going to Discount Tire in about an hour w/the Gator grip socket, so we'll see if this'll work or not. I'll post back here w/an update later today.

That sounds sub-standard ... Anyway, I would opt to buy for Spoon lug nuts as well. G'luck with removing yours ... Here's my opinion, if general over-torquing which we all do sometimes cannot withstand that kinda pressure ... You're better off using the OEM lug nuts because they're weak and crap.

I got my car back earlier today w/no problems. The Gator grip didn't work. The only thing that worked was hammering different lug sockets onto the Kyos to try to get the lug sockets stuck onto the Kyos. They finally found a lug socket that gripped well enough (When hammered into the Kyos). Apparently, it worked w/no damage to anything else except the lugs. I thought I was SOL there.
I'd like to thank Brandon at Discount Tire on Park/Tollway for being so patient & curteous. Thanks for everyone's help.
