gluing anti-vibration bumpers
I bought the aero-screen from Rick, and love it, but like many had problems with the vibrations. So I tried Rick's remedies, first the rubber strips and then the bumpers. Well our local hardware store didn't have the type of superglue that Rick suggested so I used just plain old generic superglue. Didn't work, they popped off. Then I went to a hobby shop in another town (we don't have one in Ashland) and the fellow recommended 'Bob Smith IC-2000'. It is a rubber-toughened cyanoacrylate. This stuff really works. It has the added flexibility, and shock resistance. Since both surfaces are black (this stuff is black), it does not show, and you can actually "weld" with it. I highly recommend it. Other brands of CA have a similar product.
If you are having problems with the bumpers not staying give this stuff a try. In fact the salesman says that it is the most durable of any CA. The only problem is that it is black, so if the surfaces that you are using it on are not black, and you get too much on it will show.

Cool.. I just bought that glue a day ago. I also had the problem where the bumper stops would pop off, and I tried many different glues, including Goldbergs, the recommended superglue. Now I know I finally found the stuff that works... Thanks gdw...
Oh, btw, did you know that after you clean up the adhesive stuff on the bumper stops, theres like this thin layer of plastic covering the actual bottom of the bumper stop? I peeled those off, so its pure rubber now. Hopefully the Bob Smith glue will hold it even stronger, since its made for rubber to plastic adhesion.

I couldn't find Rick's recommended superglue, but the guy in the hobbie shop suggested a suitable, 2-second drying superglue. As I doubted the ability of the glue to dry in 2 seconds (and because Rick said so) I also bought the superglue accelerator aerospray. They both came to a whopping $18, however, when I got home and read the instructions for the superglue, the label specifically said "DO NOT USE any quick drying spray" - so the spray ended up being a total waste of about $9.)
The glue worked like a charm. It certainly did dry in 2 seconds - as my hand can well testify. In the couple of seconds it took to put the first bumper in place, my finger immediately stuck to the bumper, while my thumb became seriously attached to the roll hoop! Wow. I was amazed how fast that stuff worked! Never before have I become so attached to my S2K as I was then. I just didn't want to (read: couldn't) leave her! Needless to say, I spent a tricky five minutes trying to part company with my car. Eventually, we managed to say our goodbyes. (All I can say is that if the cops just happened to be waiting to take my fingerprints right then, they would have had to work with just three fingers; there wasn't too much skin left on the other two!)

Cool. And it can be found at:

for those who prefer to order online. (though the Goldberg's worked great for me.)

The stuff I used is called Zap CA, by Pacer Technology (California, and Essex, England). Right on the front it has the single statement: "Bonds skin and eyes in seconds." The way it's written, it almost sounds like they're very proud of this achievement!
