Default Possible Manufacturer's Defect????

I have a MY04 with 800 miles.

Upon detailing my vehcile for the first time, I noticed some dents consistant to both sides at the same location. It is on the rear quarter panel, above the wheels, roughly around the horizontal seam line. The dents are similiar to door dings.

I got my vehicle with 12 miles on it, upon delivery I did not notice these dents. I have never parked near other vehicles so I do not know how these got there.

I did searches for rear quarter panels and related dents. In one of the threads there were several owners that complained about these dents in the same location, but all seemed to assume that it was caused by careless ppl. No one noted that it could be a possible defect in manufacturing or caused by flex in the chasis.

I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this and if any action was taken to get this issue addressed.

Thanks.

Are these dents on the rear fender part right above the wheel? If it is I have 2. I dont know how they got there I always thought that someone opened their door and hit it. Any Pics of your dents?

I have a 2001 and am very careful where I park. I also have them on both sides. They seemed to develop over time. I just spotted them last year. They are about 4" over each rear wheel. Looks more like a small divet than a door ding. No paint scrapes or scrathches, just a little indentation.

I'll try to post some pics over the weekend

I have an MY04 and noticed the exact same dings in the rear quater panels right above the rear wheels. I had a "paintless dent removal" guy come to my house and remove them. The dings are COMPLETELY gone.

i have the same dings on my car, but my dealer fessed up when they did it. the lift inside the service department i picked the car up at was a little too tall for our low s2000's. they mistakenly decided to lift the car up via the fenderwells thus denting them. i pointed this out to them on predelivery inspection and they sent it out to the paintless dent removal guy and theyre gone now.

before you bring your car to service, you should always let them know that your fenders are very very delicate and that lifting the car up by hand to get it onto the lift is a very bad idea.

Hmm... very interesting.

I detailed my car this weekend and didn't notice anything. I'll have to check again to make sure now.

I'm guessing what bkw said is probably true. It's not a defect but careless use of the lift by dealerships and shops.

I've got one on the driver's side, but not on the pax. Always thought someone caught me in the parking lot, but now I'm not so sure.
Bizzare.

this is exactly how you'd describe the 'dent' in mine (except I have an '03, of course), as posted above:

I've got an 04, and it didn't have the dents you guys are talking about when I recieved it.

Now the big door ding it picked up a few weeks later...that's another story all together...

But the dent guy was able to take it out.
