Last night after driving home from work, I noticed that my right Nippon Exhaust was dipping down. I had noticed in the previous weeks that the right muffler casing was a bit lower and not sticking out as much as the left muffler casing. I jacked up the car and inspected the exhaust.

Turns out the metal hanger (closest to the tip) was loose. The weld area of the metal hanger to the muffler had broken loose. What happened? Bad welding/quality? Maybe the exhaust was abused on the way over to the US from Germany? I did notice that the box took a beating and the exhaust had a few scars on it upon arrival:

So, I took off the left exhaust in fear that the metal hanger would break completely and I am only running the right exhaust (good thing the exhaust consists of a bunch of parts).

I have only had the exhaust for a month...hopefully MG Racing will help me out.

Very disappointing...

I really don't want to weld on a brand new exhaust. Assuming MG Racing will give me credit or something, that would be great...but it will also be a pain.

What would you do?

I would take it to a local shop and weld the bracket back on. You'll never even notice it and I bet it would cost less than $30 to do.

Hey-

I'm sure Giampiero will work something out with you. This obviously sounds like a warrantee issue...

If your happy with the exhaust keep it and get MG Racing to refund you the money for the weld...your never gonna see it anyway...definitly a warranty issue!

Good thinking, plus it's only a hanger.

I would call them up about the problem. Try to have them credit you to have it welded back on. That does suck though. How does it sound now with one muffler?

Ah, your killing me man. My box was beat up on deliver too, but I didn't have any muffler damage like in your pics. I haven't had any issues yet, but I'll be sure to check the state of my welds this evening.
