remote engine start
anybody have this feature on their "S"? i think this feature will defeat the "push start button". remote engine start is a very convenient way to warm up your car with a push of a button from a distance. it may be healthy for the "S" too since it's all warm up and ready to go. just wondering if anybody have done this to their "S" and is this worth doing? (maybe for a daily driven "S" would be great).

I haven't done this myself, but I was thinking about doing that too. I know some people who have the remote starter on their turbo cars and it makes things a lot easier and convenient for their driving.

some alarm features has the remote starter built in to the alarm system, it can act as a remote engine start and also act as a turbo timer in one. it probably saves you some money (and spaces in the cockpit) from purchasing a addition turbo timer. i know the "S" is not a turbo charged car but it is still a high performance motor and may be good cooling the motor after a hard run.

I put a remote start on my Integra... you have to over-ride the clutch in order to start the car, and it was a bear to do on my car... in most states, it is illegal to have remote start on a manual transmission car... if you want to cover your but when/if you do it, you can make some type of pin switch of magnetic trip so that 12 volts is picked up only when the gearbox is in nuetral... I did, but like I said, it was a pain in the ass... I stopped using remote start since my car is usually in a climate controlled garage... but every now and then when I park outside, I start it up to heat up the interior (as oppossed to warming up the engine)...
My friend put a remote starter on his manual civic and when he took it to the shop, the had parked

A remote starter would not defeat your push button starter. It would tap into the system and use what's already there. As already mentioned, the clutch interlock must be over-ridden but remote starters can do this too. The car must be left in neutral which not too wise if you're parked on a hill (the hand brake alone cannot be trusted for this job). These types of starters are used mainly in places like where I live so that the interior of the car can be warm when the "wussy" driver gets to it. Warming up a car (even the S2000) for more than 30 - 60 seconds is a waste of gas and time. And I'm talking in sub-zero climates. Why the heck would somebody living in California need to "warm" up any car? By the time you've started the thing and get your seat belt on and made it to the end of the driveway (or parking lot), your oil has had ample time to get to wherever it needs to be. Everyone knows that warming up a car by driving it is far better than letting it sit there and idling. Do you really need to VTEC as soon as you get out of your driveway? This is at the faaaar reaches of anal retentiveness.
