Isn't that the concept SSM? The S2000 is the production type of that, right? Correct me if I am mistaking.

Yup, that is indeed the prototype/concept SSM vehicle.
I like the final version of the roll bar better personally...

Yes, that is the original concept shown in 1995. The SSM came first, then the SSX, and now we have the S2000.

av8tor2- If you have a pic of the front end you should post that. The front headlights were low on the front and were very eye catching.

The SSM had over 300 bhp because HONDA had started with the Vigor's 5-cyl., the tranny was a sequential gearbox and the dash had a gauge that indicated what gear you were in. The '95 SSM for me is what started it all!

Why is it that when cars come out in production they never look like their concept cars? It is alway toned down a bit.

If you look at the front end of that concept, it is almost exactly the same except the headlights are in different places and they are shaped different.

usually changes happen to ease production and to keep consumer costs down....they don't want to price the car outside their target audience

the front end is a little rounder in production,
alot more sharp edges in the concept,
the honda emblem is in the grill,
the car overall looks a little bit bigger in the concept,
the rollbars look awesome,
rims are bigger and nicer

Im not putting down the S2K in anyway. I love my car. Im just saying , why do car companies design futuristic looking concepts and then decide to go conservative when it comes to production.
