Does anyone know if there are any winter tires that will fit on 17" ssr gt1 wheels?

Well it's very subjective, but my vote goes to Nokian. I have the Hakkapeliitta 1 model on my Impreza, and find them spectacular.
All the instructors at Tim O'Neil's rally school last winter in Franconia, NH wanted my car. (Of course they never told ME that... I just found out last month. )

Michelin Arctic Alpin, new Bridgestone Blizzaks.... they're both good. If you do a LOT of driving, say maybe long-distance stuff, Nokian's NRW would be good. It's technically an all-season tire, but c'mon this is Nokian we're talking about here. The "1" and "Q" models are both full-winter tires, and the "1" is studdable. (Not sure about the Q.)

www.nokiantyres.com I believe.

I looked around tire rack, read the reviews, surveys etc. and I'm gonna go with the Dunlop SP Winter Sport M2's.

The Dunlops are good but TireRack doesn't sell Nokian, and I'm telling you it'd be WELL worth your while to check out their website, and try the Internet for reviews on them, too. Many people believe Nokian winter tires are far and away some of the best in the world.

Just don't pass them up, man.

Are the Nokian's a pure winter tire or do they also perform well on dry ground? Also, are they, in general, more expensive, less or just about the same of the Dunlops?

Goodrich Winter Slaloms on front. Blizzaks on the rears. Stock sizes. Had them on all last winter. Never a problem.

All the snow tires have advantages and disadvantages. If you are looking for the best ice traction it would be the Bridgestone Blizzak MZ-01 and they were tested head to head with the Nokian and the MZ-01 was better.
If you are looking for a tire that is going to give you some handling and ice and snow traction then I would go with the Blizzak LM-22 or the Dunlop Winter Sport M2. Both of these tires are European in design with better handling in the dry and higher speed rating.
You would need to decide what would fit your needs the best.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you
