Winter driving
I'm new to the list, but an S2000 owner since April of this year. My question is a simple one: How many of you living in areas with ice and snow plan on driving your S2000s this winter? I will be driving this winter with Yokohama Guardex 600s and am curious about any suggestions and/or experiences other S2000 owners have.

I am a year round Daily Driver here in Philly area, wearing Blizzak MZ-01s for the winter. Worked great last winter, but we don't have Ithaca's hills!
I spent 7 years on the other hill in the late 60s/ early 70s...so I know the area well. We are friends of your fellow faculty member, Cathy Penner. I enjoyed a brief look at your website and see that you're having fun with the S2000.

I drove a Porsche 944S2 for the last three winters, so I'm prepared for the worst (although the P-car did very well with the Yokohamas). I suspect that the S2000 may be a bit of a handful in the really bad storms, but otherwise it should be more than up to the task.
I'll add the extra weight to the trunk and avoid any unshoveled hills!

Thanks for the welcome. You didn't mention whether or not you drive an S2000 in the winter. I figure if an S2000 can make it through a Honeoye winter, than an Ithaca winter ought to be a piece of cake. Any suggestions appreciated.
This is my 2nd winter coming up with the S2000. Last winter was a piece of cake. Just plug it in when it gets below freezing if you leave it outside. I've got Blizzaks on the back and Winter Slaloms on the front. Drive like it's winter not like if it were summer and you'll be fine. Watch out for other bozos who think they're driving in summer conditions.

You mention plugging it in. Did you find that the OEM battery was sufficient for Calgary winters? I remember thinking when I first saw the battery that it looked awfully small for northern winters. Where I live I can't plug in any engine, battery, or oil warmers, so I have to depend on the battery to work under some very severe conditions (They usually do, at least with my previous cars).
