Mine is also Silverstone but that's just the kind of day it was - kinda dismal and grey, steady, light snow.

paS2K got it right. My driveway, like much of Ithaca, is much steeper than the photo xviper sent of Calgary. BTW, I think I recognize the neighborhood from a visit to Calgary in 1994. Pretty country.

Returning to the topic, my driveway is incredibly steep and narrow. An AWD or 4WD could make it, but it's out of the realms of most 2WD vehicles excepting old VWs, Corvairs, and air cooled Porsches. I'm running Yokohama Guardex 600s which are usually pretty decent in snow and on ice, but the S2000 acted as though it was far too light for the tires to grip. The tires are also on their fourth season which is pretty old in "tire years," so I might have had better luck on a newer set of tires, but I doubt it. I'm not faulting the car. I knew when I bought it that it wouldn't be the best car in snow, but it isn't bad when I'm on the road.

paS2K, for the record, I live on route 89 directly below the hospital where your wife worked (west shore of the lake). Maybe you remember seeing one of those driveways from when you lived here. Ours is one of the better ones, but that doesn't say much. You, also, won't be surprised to know that I haven't attempted Buffalo Street hill since the snow fall, but tomorrow I plan on attempting Aurora Street hill just out of curiosity.

It's not a front wheel drive car. To much power going to the wheels, your pushing instead of pulling. plus the tread pattern is to smooth and will not grip. It runs the same as the muscle cars.

Although people around town (New Hampshire) have been driving the S, I would rather not and that's why I have my old winter bomb.

Its made to get up and go not made for snow.

Testut and I are running snow tires all around. Noone in their right mind would drive this car in winter conditions without them.

Now that I don't have the "driveway from hell" to contend with, the S2000 is doing quite well on the snow. Up Aurora Street hill with not a hint of slip. I even managed my way through some 6" packed, virginal snow which I thought might give me problems. It didn't.

What xviper says is true. I couldn't imagine running this car this time of year on anything but dedicated snow tires on all corners.
