Other than extra wear on the tires, are there any other problems that can happen when doing this? can it throw off the alignment if done excessively?

 

YOU CAN GET YOURS TO DRIFT? I can't there is just not enough power in my opinion, or maybe its just my almost stock car. Anyways i don't see it hurting anything, clutch wear might be more extreme, but the alignment shouldn't be a problem, the s2k is a tough car.

 

ive seen video of a stock s2k drifting and ive read its possible, just hard to do. Ive also seen video of lesser powerful cars drifting. I wanna learn to drift. Im looking for the perfect parking lot and the perfect rain storm. Have fun

 

you shouldn't have a problem drifting the car as long as you get the torque up on the low gears. It will mostly put stress on the tranny and diff and tires.

 

it puts a lot of stress on your entire drivetrain. The S isn't a good drifter IMO because it's pretty hard to control when the rear is loose.

BTW, you dont need high HP to go sideways at all.

 

Our rear diff is not exactly what can be called "bulletproof". It's quite adequate for most of what we use it for but drifting is usually a high load, low speed, closed circuit type of activity. Next time you have gone on a drive in the heat of the summer, even for about an hour or so, carefully put your hand on the diff casing immediately after stopping the car. It's pretty hot. Drifting may not allow sufficient air movement to cool the diff (and the oil inside). I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but I'm suggesting that perhaps diff fluid maintenance should be one of your priorities if you are considering this kind of driving. Also, check the diff's temp once in a while to see how it's doing. If it almost burns your hand, it's trying to tell you something. Maybe you should listen.

 

It will drift. Just don't expect it to go anywhere you want it to. I've done 90s, 180s, 360s and everything in between. I never know where it is going or how it will turn out.

 

yes i did make the car drift earlier tonight. i was going about 35 mph in 2nd gear and made a 45 degree right turn. in the middle of the turn, i floored it and engaged vtec. the tires instantly broke loose and i carefully maneuvered the car into a perfect drift(countersteered). it was the first time i've ever done something like this but i wont push my luck next time . i need to stop listening to the new korn cd, i keep driving like an a$$hole.

Also getting an aftermarket LSD will help out a lot on the car. Suggest Cusco RS 1.5way LSD
