Matching SPA.....
went to the bodyshop yesterday to get my paint matched for my front spoiler. This guy does really good work...Anyway, he looks at my spoiler and is like wow this is a bad paint job (factory spoiler paint) says you can see right through it.
I want to get my spoiler to match the car much better than it does (not very close right now) so he says, we'll take a picture of the car with some special camera and it will match your car. Great!
Well he takes the picture and it can't find a match.... well it does, but he's skeptical, saying how it makes no sense what it is saying. So he tries again and same result.
So he pulls out the "book" looks up the code and says SHIT, actually more like "calis tabarnaq de ..ad.f.asdf.ds.f." Anyway, he says it's a Tri-coat process, you'll NEVER match that, it's a B**CH to even do it let alone match

The Yellow is the only S2k colour that is like this. It's 1 colour with another colour on top followed by a pearl in the CLEAR not in the colour.
In other words we should actually be paying more for insurance on the yellow because painting it will be a complicated process
So, we went over to the mixing room and made up some paint..... mixed it up and compared it to my car, DAMN close. He said he'll add a little pearl to the clear and get a pretty good match, it will be 100x better than what I had I'm sure of that.
He wished me luck never to get a scratch on the car, as he said it will never look right, you'll have to paint the entire side
I know your pain...
When I had the dents taken out of my hood from the flying object that broke my front window I went to one of the best paint shops, and they even
ed it up from a perfect color match point of view.

Yeah, it is a very expensive and difficult thing to match.
Here's some info on tri-coats...

The system is used sometimes by auto manufacturers on upper line cars
Actually my body shop guy was saying they don't tend to use this type of process anymore he was VERY suprised that it was done like this.
What my guy did was blend a paint that will be CLOSE very close and will just add pearl to the clear, it should be good enough for the front lip.
Everyone that takes a close look at SPA see something special, now I know why, it IS special.

However there is that Dark Leader who still believes Berlina is better...

Not only is yellow better than black, but even you have admitted that Black Raven is better than Berlina... Or had you forgotten about this little confession?
