Default Heated Seats?

Has anyone here added heated seats?

I have checkout a couple DIY threads on the seats and it looks like something I can tackle. I am probably going to go a with two seat set from Check Corp.

Anyone have any advise on this kind of installation? The DIY threads out there are fairly helpful but I haven't found one for a MY 06+. The passenger seat airbag sensor isn't something I'm excited about fooling around with so I may just opt for doing the passenger seatback only.

Thanks, Brad

Make sure the leather is warm when you put the covers back on. This will make them more pliable. A dryer for a couple of minutes works great.

Brad,

I had the same idea for my '06 but I went with Auto Warm.

I have not had a chance to do the install but I did read their excellent instructions. Their advise is to disconnect the battery and wait several minutes to deactivate the air bag systems. It really does not sound intimidating at all.

I have them installed on MY04.I heard you couldn't install these on the MY06+ cars because of the passenger seat airbag sensor or something.

btw I love them..one of my favorite mods.

OMG!

that would allow winter driving with the top down! Keep us posted on what you end up with -- installation ease -- etc.

Good advice. I wish I would have thought of that when I attempted to install a new soft top on my old MX-5 during the winter.

Thanks for pointing out Auto Warm.
Their instructions are by far the best I've seen and much cheaper too!
Ordered them last night. I'll let you know how it goes.

Brad,

I finished my install today. I have to say that this is a fairly involved job.

There is no problem at all taking either seat out and removing the covers. The rumors about some airbag related obstacle just was not true on my '06. You do need to disconnect the battery before you start.

I saved the hog rings that fasten the seat cover to the pan and reused them to put the cover back on. A couple of pliers are all you need. At the bottom of the seat backs is a long clip and two short clips that hold the back of the cover on. Use a flat blade screw driver to get them back together. You will see what I mean. I used a small bolt cutter to remove the rings under the covers. I replaced them with zip ties.

I ran a power wire from the battery to the center tunnel under the center console. I installed the switches in the console. I managed to hide all the wires under trim behind the seats and in the center console.

If you have any questions when you get into it let me know.

Good luck.

Sounds to be a nice install. Did you cut the on/off button holes yourself? That is clean.
