Just having a nose around the car the other day and a bit of a tidy up of the boot and decided to have a look behind the panelling at the spare wheel. Although it's a bit of an awkward shape, it's actually quite a bit cavity there and wondered if anyone has removed the space-saver and carries tyre-weld or similar instead?

Reason for asking is that I'm considering doing a touring holiday in the summer and any extra space would be welcome.

 

no spare or panel in mine as a result of fitting a boot brace

this gives more space and causes no problems at all

I cannot see the point in carrying a spare, especially a space saver, when I can carry tyreweld and breakdown cover

my beemer didn't have a spare from new either and the situation is exactly the same

 

There are a number of people who have ditched it to save weight or to accommodate ICE gubbins - subs and the like.

Pete, you appear to have some sort of alloy wheel equivalent of fluffy dice hanging in your boot....

 

Mines still in there but has the addition of the tool kit, a blanket, a torch and a first aid kit in the centre of said spare wheel.

any ideas?

 

Gave up carrying the Spare Wheel ages ago - never used it in 6 Yrs - as said before - There's allways the AA etc

It does free up a bit of extra space though - since fitting the Seats / Harness' etc - its now come a bit more limited
