Default Headlamp alignment woes - advice please!!

It looks like my honeymoon period of a voiding the dealership service department has come to an end... I noticed last night that the "cutout"?? of my headlamp where the beam pattern steps down on the cars centerline didn't look as sharp, checked it today on a white wall and my right side dipped beam appears to have become skewed out of alignment.

Has anyone had to have their lights re-aligned, I need to find someone who knows what they are about to get this sorted?? I am mystified as to how this could have happened, the car looks perfect and I'd defy anyone to bump into it where I park as it is a physical impossibility!! Spontaneous headlamp misalignment syndrome perhaps??

LOL (or maybe not if you are the one afflicted!)

Yes, Andy is correct about Ross - and it took quite a while for him to get it sorted I am afraid to report. He will be at the pub on Saturday - you can compare notes.

I knocked the alignment out slightly when changing the main beam bulbs. My car's going to the dealer on Monday for Headlight and Chassis alignment. When I'm back I can easily check the pattern.

I haven't started to look at the headlamps yet so I can rule that one out... my gut feel is that the self leveling has gone wonky on the drivers side light cluster - I'll check this out later on....

Which dealer are you going to take the car to for the alignment Brian?

Brindley Honda in Cannock. While I've had some problems, I trust those guys. The car's there for several hours. (Sorry to disappoint AnDy, but I'm waiting while they do the work, rather than borrowing the Micra again! )

As people have already remembered (I'm famous ) I have indeed experienced probably more problems with a dealer being unable to align my headlights properly.

I currently have two notches, where before I only had one, but this doesn't appear to be uncommon. Apparently the headlights only have a vertical adjustment, and I seem to recall someone posted the instructions as to how to adjust them, hmmmm, lets see if I can find them and post a link (may be in the thread already linked to)

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...+AND+adjustment

Is one of them - Not sure if that link will work but its title HID lighting angle adjustment.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...p?threadid=6313 - Is another one - though some of the pictures are no longer there.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...+AND+adjustment - Is another one, titled Need help: Lighting adjustment.

My own thread titled Headlight pattern pictures had a picture no longer available from Cedric that showed the pattern generated from a set distance, I think I have the BMP at home, I will try and post it later tonight.

Hope that helps and I look forward to seeing whether you were able to do it yourself on Saturday.

Any chance of a picture of the pattern? The HID notch is blurred as the two lights are slightly out horizontally, not vertically. That's what it looks like anyway.

ah.... the lights seem to be at the same height but like you say have a slight overlap where the instensity isn't as bright....

I may just be being paranoid! (Must be feeling left out of the problem S2000 club )

Cedric, could you post your HIDS picture again so I can see if I'm going mad or not please
