Default Sound of Trunk Subs

I noticed that they sell those sub boxes that fit in the corners of your trunk.....can you actually hear those in the cab? what kind of sound quality are they? Trunk rattle much? just curious........i really don't know any other place you could put subs......

At moderate volumes, my JL stealthbox sounds great. Good low end extension. At higher volumes, the license plate starts to rattle. At even higher volumes, the whole trunk rattles. If I turn it up high enough, my hairs starts to jump and stand on end and it starts to shake the dash loose. However, because it is in the trunk, you won't get the impact and the quick transients that you get from one pointed directly into the cabin.

I think that being a subwoofer it's more a matter of feeling it than hearing it. Yes you can "hear" it.

Yes you can hear it in the cabin. I think it rounds out the sound nicely. Also very easy to remove if you need more space in the trunk.

PAS2Knut, before you bought the wlaurent enclosures, did you check out and listen to the tool kit well subs? What factors made you choose the side-mount vs. the well-mount? Where is your amp?

Why not just put 2 10" subs under the seats like me? There are several problems with a sub in the trunk. My first 12" in the trunk was much like everyone elses and fired up into the bottom of the trunk lid...sounds horrible at almost all volumes but low and rattles a lot so then I put a 12" sub where the spare tire is facing the backs of the passenger seats. This provided a much better bass response and sounded much better as well as fixed 75% of the trunk rattles but it still was all your rear bass coming from the rear and all your high's and mids' coming from in front. With my final setup with the 10"s in the floor and the 4 6" Illusions mounted in the sealed kickpanel I am engulffed in sound. Brings all the sound to a front sound stage. Anyway just wanted to show you a third option...
