Default My Entire Trunk is Now Protected with Mobil1

Searching all over my house for a FedEx envelope had me into the garage and checking my trunk in the S2000.

When I reached for a letter that I saw, I could tell that something just was'nt right. When I grabbed the letter, my hand slipped on it and left an oily residue. I was really confused for a moment.

Then I noticed that the bottom of the trunk looked really wet. As I pushed the felt, oil surrounded my finger, it was like touching a sponge full of oil.

I began pulling out my items in the trunk, luckily, I did not have anything that could be damaged but my enitre trunk (along with jack and tire rod) are now protected with Mobil1.

I always keep a quart of Mobil1 in the trunk for those "just in case" moments. I've driven over 65k miles in an S2000 and I've never had this happen before. I guess the lid came loose while driving. Really odd as I always tighten them up really well. Wonder if the folks who changed my rims played a foul little prank.

Anyone think I'll have any problems? Guess now would be a good time to get that KY from under the seat, j/k!

Sorry to hear about that! I keep mine in a ziploc bag and I try to pack it in there in such a way that it is standing upright. Helps my peace of mind, if nothing else...

OMG At least your jack will not rust for many years to come. Seriously tho, I would think it would be kinda hard to get completely out of the carpet like stuff in the trunk.

I guess it has been able to withstand the high temp in the trunk quite well!

I'm thinking of "test" driving an '03 now.

Just kidding.

I removed the bottom trunk tray and I'm going to let it air out but I think it's pretty much ruined. Gotta swap it with someone on the next meet.

I hope you're talking about the car seat, not YOUR seat!
