Is the 350Z THAAT much of a better car than our S2K??
I only ask because in nearly all the car magazines I've been reading lately, especially ones where they discuss the new Mazda RX-8, all of these magazine are constantly and consistently touting the 350Z as the "flagship", "definitive coupe sports car" on the market today that defines what a true sports car should be (granted they say the M3 is the standard for sedan sports cars, but hell, that's an M3
). And the only mention of the S2000 comes in the comparison of low front-end torque, high red/rev line(s), and noisy drive experiences. I mean, I haven't driven a 350Z yet and I'm sure it's a great car and all, but is it really all thaaat much better than ours???

The Z is the newest thing this year, so it's getting a TON of ink; the Nissan marketing machine is in full force; the gee-whiz columnists are eating all this up; Nissan is building a trillion of these cars; it's everywhere you want to be.
Bottom line is, it is not a "better" car. It's a different car...and it cannot compare to an S2000.

The Z will be available in roadster form next year.
I had a buddy with me who is a big v8/domestic fan and his quote to me "has about the same amount of torque that your car does...feels more like a maxima or something"
While i do not completely agree with his statement (i.e. i could tell a difference in torque) the machine just feels so much more isolated from the road and felt more like a luxury sports coupe than a sports car (remember just my opinion so no flames please)
Overall, I was impressed with the car but thought the interior was distracting (like nissan was trying a little too hard... to me a sports car should be more simple more purposed.) the feel of the shifter was a little less direct but much better than most cars i've driven, engine was great (one of the best v6's i've ever driven) but upper rev range less impressive compared to the s2k..
I was a little po'd with the bs brochure i was handed on the boxter vs s2k vs 350z... all propoganda and no real facts... in fact there was a lot of false misinformation.

I test drove the 350Z and G35 Coupe before.
IMO, they are not as fun to drive as the S2000.
but for most ppl, 350Z is a package (room, comfortable level, features, easy to drive...) that overall better than the S2000.

Sadly, I'm afraid you have us confused with people who really care!
It's a new offering! Don't you remember the mags when the S2000 was new?
"The Z will be available in roadster form next year.
yes, its a better car than the S2000"
And gearsau, I think you need to post this on the Z board. They'll probably send you hugs and kisses and candies and some kind of free membership or something for padding their egos helping them strut just a bit taller.
And we've seen the Z roadster and although I find it to be an "interesting" thing and most likely will give Nissan another sales boost, in all sincerity and without prejudice, I'm of the honest opinion that it is ................................ well .............................. how can I put it? Oh, yeah, I know.........
