I know, I know, I have read the threads. There are those of you who think the cruise control is out of place in the S2000; well then this thread is not for you. For those who like the cruise control and think it should only be disengaged by touching the brake or the clutch; this thread is also not for you. This thread is for those who like the cruise and think it should be easy to disengage with the switch on the steering wheel.
When I use cruise I am doing so because I want to relax my legs, problem is to disengage the cruise with the switch you have to press both buttons at the same time, and then the problem surfaces. That stupid plastic piece between the two switches jabs right into the end of your thumb. Ouch!
So my objective was to stop making that painful indentation in my thumb when I disengage the cruise. And as you will see from this simple mod, Honda could do the same thing by changing their mold ever so slightly.
Tools needed:
Phillips head screwdriver, duct tape, dremel tool, sandpaper, vice or clamp. Note- if you do not have a Dremel tool go get one, once you have it you will soon discover the millions of uses it has!
Unscrew the switch from the steering wheel and pull away slightly to expose the electrical connection. Press the top of the green connection and slide the switch off the end of the wire connector.
Use duct tape to pull the switches away from the plastic ridge and to hold them in the down position. The key here is to get the tape onto the side of the switch, therefore if you slip while grinding the switch will be protected.
Put the switch into the vice or use a clamp to hold it steady and use a narrow grinding/cutting bit to grind off the top of the plastic ridge.
Once this is done use a small piece of sandpaper to give a nice smooth finish to the plastic ridge. You are now done, just reinstall the switch. Now when you push both buttons simultaneously you will not get that plastic ridge jabbing into your thumb!

[B]I hope I am not the only one that figured this out, and I hope I dont shoot all your effort to shreds TripleH, but all you have to do to disengage the cruise control is depress both the buttons on the steering wheel at the same time.
Painful enough for me to spend the 30 minutes or so to make the mod, yes. Well maybe painful is too strong of a word, but the switch was being a prick.
