Hey,

Posting here b/c many of you have this bar.

What size is the allen adjuster bolt?
What size socket for the nut on the other side?
What size socket for the bolts to the chassis (at the mount?)

I usually have the trailer with all of the tools so I've never really paid attention to what size everything was. So now a friend wants to help me out by bringing some tools to the event and I have no idea what to ask for. Help!

Thanks!

Sean

The Allen wrencg is 6mm, the nut is 17mm and I *think* the bracket mount bolts are 19mm. Why loosen the brackets?

Thanks!

I sometimes pull the bar down (take off the brackets) when I can't get the allen wrench to clear on top.

From a previous post:

1) drive up on blocks
2) jack up car from under engine jack point
3) jack stands behind front wheels
4) lower car onto stands
5) remove underbody - try not to lose plastic fastner thingys
6) remove 4 mount bolts - lower bar (use impact wrench)
7) remove "the bolt" (use impact wrench and 3/8 drive allen socket)
8) move and tighten "the bolt" with impact wrench (don't over tighten)
9) raise bar - finger tight 4 mount bolts (prevent cross thread) - then tighten with impact wrench (don't over tighten)
10) replace under body (if time)
11) jack up car, remove jackstands
12) lower car onto blocks
13) ready to race!

I've done this a few times now and I find this to be the most efficent way to do it. Or at least the most consistent. When I try to go from the top or skip the "lower bar" step I just end up swearing a lot and taking more time.

I've done this on grid with time to spare (with a knowledgeable helper).

I remember the bracket bolts being the same size as the adjuster nut.
