Q: What are the effects of differing tyre pressures?
I posted this question on the wheel and tyre forum last year and (surprise, surprise) nobody replied.
If standard pressures are being run at 32psi, what will the differing effects be if one changes the pressures to:
a) 30 psi
b) 34 psi
I would be interested to know how one could tailor pressures to suit driving styles, e.g. cornering attitude, steering feel, progression to loss of traction etc.
(In depth answers preferred please!)

maybe best to post in the racing/autoX forum.
In general (sorry but my knowledge barely exceeds Mark Twain, both terms....)
lower tire pressures increases grip by enabling a larger footprint, and may cushion the ride. Drawbacks - increased wear to outer tread, lower gas mileage, possibility of pulling tire off of the rim on a really hard corner. I don't know if 30 psi is even near this range. (sincerely doubt for normal/mildly spirited driving)
Higher tire pressure ->better gas milage, apparent feeling of tighter response, possible increased wear on s02s (theorhetical. higher pressures causes the middle of the thread to "bulge" and may allow use of that tread instead of just the innermost).
Drawbacks - harsher ride, traction brakes free earily.
I personally run my tires at 38 psi.I have gotten 12k out of my rear s02s with 3 D.E/autocrosses in the mix. I also have been told that I drive like "me old mum."
Try different pressures and go with what feels best. either way, drive carefully and
hope this helps,
Mark

Check this thread for more details. It varies quite a bit depending on the tire size, stagger and alignment.
