Want to pass on a good book on to another member?
Do you read books and then don't want to throw them away but find they are cluttering up your space? I give the forgettable ones to the library for them to sell but I want to pass on the ones I really enjoy. What if we use this thread to tell about the books we read that we like and then if someone finds it interesting, the two people can connect to pass the book on. You can do it however you agree to. I am starting with REPLAY by Ken Grimwood, which I am mailing to Brantshali.
I've got a pile of books that I've read. I need to go through them and see if any of them are good enough to recommend.
I know that my two favorites are by Jimmy Buffett:
Tales from Margaritaville
and
Where is Joe Merchant?
Tales from Margaritaville is a very short book comprised of several short stories that can stand on their own, or interweave with the others to form a wandering story. One of my friends says that I remind her of the main character at the start of the book, Tully Mars.

May I make a suggestion? If you read a book that you really liked you have to tell what it's about. This is what I posted on "Are you another woman..." that got this idea of sharing books started...
Off the back cover of the book,
Replay is about a 43 year-old guy who dies in 1988 and wakes up to find himself in 1963, at the age of 18, staring at his dorm room wall. It's all the same but different: Jeff knows what the future holds. He knows who will win every World Series..every Kentucky Derby... even how to win on Wall Street. So he replays his life, a bunch of times.
Each time he does it differently. It really gets you thinking about your own life and what you might do differently.
If you don't say what the book is about and why you liked it why would anyone want to read it?

Well, Tales from Margaritaville is hard to explain, because it is several short stories. However, it is based predominantly in the states bordering the Gulf of Mexico. The journey begins in, I believe, Montana and is sparked by Tully Mars packing up his worldly possessions and heading to the coast for the first time in his life...and it takes off from there. It is, of course, very much like a Jimmy Buffett song...but longer.
Let me just say that if you read this entire book (all 200+ pages) and don't laugh out loud at least once then you are officially dead!!
As for Where is Joe Merchant?, I'll get to that tomorrow. For now...I need sleep...
