Past Lives, Future Healing by Sylvia Browne.
Here's what it says on the backcover that got me hooked into buying it:
"I want you to know, not just believe, but know, to the core of your spirit where the truthlives--that you are eternal. The life you're living right now is just a tiny step in the never ending journey of the unique, cherished soul God created for no one else but you, a step of your own design toward your own greatest potential. Your current lifetime won't end in death. It will end with your spirit simply freeing itself from your body and returning Home to the perfect higher dimension it came from called The Other Side.
You have been alive since the beginning of time, in a gorgeous unbroken continuum, moving back and forth between earth and The Other Side many times. You have lived on earth in many different bodies, during many different eras in many different parts of the world under many different circumstances for your own carefully chosen purpose, depending on the goals and needs of you spirit's progress. Please don't let the term "past lives" mislead you into thinking you've arrived this time around as a separate person from who you've been before, alive, then dead, then alive again. No, what you're living right now is simply the current phase of one life, the same eternal life your spirit has been living and will go on living forever."
I read this one and then bought 3 more by her. My kind of stuff!

Finished Replay while on vacation. I haven't told Lesley this until just now, but I'll be mailing it to her in the next few days because I can GUARANTEE that she'll like it as much as I did...and I LOVED it!!
The premise of the book is simple (think the movie Groundhog day, but more serious), and the book isn't particularly long (300 pages or so), but I was amazed at the way it made my mind wander...almost adding my own pages to the story by filling it with insights and questions from my own life.
Definitely a worthwhile read!

I just thought of another of my favorite books: Inherit the Stars, by James P. Hogan. Unfortunately I don't own it, so I can't insert the synopsis from the cover. Basically, it involves the discovery of a human corpse on the moon. Only one problem: it's 50,000 years old! The story then follows the scientists of the near-future attempting to figure out where it came from, how it got there, and what it means about our knowledge of human history. I found it a fascinating read
. If you can find it (which may be difficult), I highly recommend it.

I'm not really an independent reader (except for Philosophical books) so these will just be classics that most have read in school: Anyways, I liked Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mocking Bird.. and in terms of plays, I really enjoyed Macbeth..
By the way, I went looking for Inherit the Stars today, and found it. If you're interested, it will probably be in a 3-novel compilation called The Giants Novels , which has all 3 books in the trilogy (Inherit the Stars is the first). Here's the tag from the back cover:
The man on the moon was dead. He was human. His skeletal body was found clad in a bright red spacesuit, hidden in a rocky grave. No one knew who he was, how he got there, or what had killed him. But his corpse was 50,000 years old...and that meant that this man had somehow lived long before he could have existed!
Ooh, another fav of mine is Snow Crash by Neal Stephensen. One of the first cyber-punk novels. Here's the blurb:
In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo's CosaNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he's a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that's striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about Infocalypse. Snow Crash is a mind-altering romp through a future America so bizarre, so outrageous...you'll recognize it immediately.

You all must go out and buy anything written by F. paul Wilson. He is a complete genius. Forget Stephen King, James Patterson, & all those publicly known authors for a minute and buy any of Wilson's REPAIRMAN JACK novels. (reoccuring character such as Alex Cross, ex.) Completely mindblowing!!! His first "Jack" book, The Tomb is supposed to be made into a movie soon with possible casting of Hugh Jackman. Titles to MUST READ: Conspiracies, The Haunted Air, Legacies, Hosts, All The Rage, & newest; GATEWAYS. You will not be disappointed. I have gotten several other people hooked and even Stephen King proclaims to be The President of the Repairman Jack Fan club.
