Would you purchase the Yokohama AVS ES 100 again?
Criteria:
Stock Rims - 205/55-16 front and 245/45-16 rear
Lots of rainy wether
No racing, just aggressive driving on highway on/off ramps

 

Got em, they are great for the price, best value out there for the S in my opinion

 

I am considering these tires. If my S2000 came with OEM tires that were the BEST for it, this would be the first car I ever owned for which this statement was true (way back to my '64 GTO). I don't claim to know the specifics about the S02's, except that they wear out in a hurry, like most OEM tires do. I'd say I smell a rat, except that would be too paranoid! But I do think , based on experience with other cars, that there is a better set of tires for the S2000 than S02's. We've just got to find it.

The thing is, the S-02's could be the best for maximum traction while still giving 10-15k miles of life. If you are out for a budget tire, the AVS ES 100's could be the best, if you want maximum traction, then Hoosier's could be the best.

I think its all about what you are looking for and unless someone knows your exact driving style and preferences (cost vs. wear) then they really can't say. For me, I don't race and I am looking for a tire with good traction, but I can't go out and drop $700-800 every year, so the ES100's suited my budget and driving preferences.

I bought the ES 100's but upgraded to 255/35/18's on the back and 225/40/18's on the front. They are great tires especially in "spirited" driving! Consider upgrading to some nice rims and sell the bland stock wheels, it will make a huge differance!!!!!!

 

My experience is with 205/16 front and 225/16 rear. front is .4 inches wider than stock and rear is .25 inches narrower. This tends to produce tad bit more oversteer.

My rears are needing replacement after only 7500 miles. The fronts held up better at the track than the S02's but I suspect it was partly due to lower speeds, since the rear would come out fairly easily.

I haven't decided on replacements yet.

 

I think Yokohama really believes in these tires, they are really giving them a push with advertising in Motor Trend and probably others. Normally you see just an ad for the brand name to get exposure, but with the ES100's they are advertising for them directly, which seems pretty interesting.

 

ES100 on my stock wheels, 205/245, about 1000kms on them now.
I'm not sure if I originally had too low expectations on these tires or what, but they just continue to surprise me(in a good way).
Compare to S02, sidewalls on the ES100 are definitely softer, a little "bouncier" sometimes, you can feel the sidewall flex in hard cornering, make the car feels like a little more body roll. Not as responsive as the S02.
But I think they've got pretty good dry grip, comparable to S02 in some tight left right handers on my usual route to work, more predictable, comfortable and quiet. Suits me very well.

I'm happy with these.
